The “B” Battle Axe is a competition combat model legal for AMA Event 750 “Open B” and RCCA “Limited B” combat events. Originally based on the proven “Battle Axe SSC”, the Battle Axe B has been further enhanced to allow maximum durability required for the increased horsepower and increased weights allowed in the B classes. The "B" has since proven itself to be the king of the skies in .25-class combat.

Built specifically around the very popular OS 25-FX engine, the Battle Axe B will accommodate any .25 class engine of similar mounting dimensions. This is not just another SSC plane with a “B” class engine bolted on! The fuel system can be a standard 6 ounce clunk tank or pen bladders with no modifications to the airframe required.

Although the Battle Axe B is designed to be extremely durable, with recommended equipment and a standard muffler it will typically build to 52-54 ounces. Replacement of the muffler with a mousse can reduces weight even more. This is the ideal “sweet spot” of must be greater than 52 ounces for Limited B and less than 56 ounces for Open B.

The Battle Axe B uses a standard 3 channel (or more) radio system. No special mixing required. The high-strength laser-cut wing saddle has room for a standard size 7-ch receiver. For lighter weight at official contests, we use micro receivers. Also consider the Assan X8 Spread Spectrum system, which lets you convert most existing transmitters into a 2.4 system at a fraction of the cost. The Battle Axe requires a 4-cell “AAA” square NiMh battery pack or equivalent.

The Battle Axe B radio setup is the same as the Battle Axe SSC so one transmitter can fly all of you Battle Axes without worrying about changing radio setups. The Battle Axe B requires three metal-gear servos. We suggest Hitec HS81-MG (or equivalent) for throttle and elevator and HS85-MG (or equivalent) for ailerons.

Wing construction of the Battle Axe B has also been strengthened with larger spars and leading edges and utilizes special high-strength bi-directional fiberglass tape (also available from TreneffRC) which provides extreme strength and fast building time. First timers will build the kit in four evenings but experienced builders using our 4” wide bidirectional tape will build it in 2-3 evenings.
