Why should I fly a Battle Axe?
The Battle Axe was purposefully designed and built for SSC and Open/Limted B.  Original designer Chris Quinn wanted an airplane that was simple to build, easy to fly, and durable in combat.  TreneffRC took his Battle Axe and made it even easier and quicker to build and even more durable.  We believe that you won't find a better plane for either class.  We recommend SSC as it is rapidly becoming the most popular class.

Who is Chris Quinn?
Chris is one of the top pilots in the USA.  Chris conceived the original Battle Axe design several years ago.  Chris lives near Nashville, TN and makes his living supporting medical equipment.  Chris also flies full scale aircraft.

Is a Battle Axe easy to build and set up?
Yes.  Kits are produced on machine tooling to insure that every part fits exactly where it should.  Parts are pre-cut and drilled so that you can complete assembly as fast as possible.  The foam wing cores are CNC cut with a proprietary airfoil, designed for the Battle Axe, to enhance maneuverability and survivability.  Ailerons are pre-beveled and cut to length.

Each kit includes a detailed instruction booklet with 35 photos and building tips.

What is included in a kit?
A Genuine Team Battle Axe kit includes precision drilled aluminum rails, fin, stab, CNC cut foam wing cores using a proprietary airfoil specifically designed for the Battle Axe, pre-beveled ailerons, spars, leading edges, coroplast center cover and trailing edge stiffeners, wing saddle kit, servo mounts, and misc. hardware assembly items.

How long does a kit take to build?
The Battle Axe can be built in two to three evenings as per the instructions.
What kind of radio gear and batteries do I need?
The Battle Axe SSC will accommodate any standard-size radio with three or more channels.  Micro-equipment (with metal gears) will save weight.  The Battle Axe B (Open/Lim B) requires three Metal Gear mini servos.

The Battle Axe will hold 370 mAh Ni-Cads or 750 mAh Ni-Mh batteries.

What can I use to cover my Battle Axe?
The Battle Axe gets its strength from being covered in special fiberglass bi-directional tape (available from TreneffRC).  It may be flown as-is in the fiberglass tape, or additionally covered in colored covering tape or low-heat covering.  Econokote or Towerkote is recommended if using a low-heat covering.

Do I have to use a bladder tank?
No, unlike most designs, the Battle Axe allows use of a standard 4-ounce clunk tank.  This is user-friendly and will deliver engine runs as, or more reliable than that of fuel bladders.  If desired, a bladder may be used, located inside the clunk fuel tank.
